Is He in it for Love or Money? ‘The Heiress’ Answers that Question Nov. 4-9 at UA’s Gallaway Theatre

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama’s department of theatre and dance presents “The Heiress,” a famous story about the fortunes of love, Nov. 4-9 in the Gallaway Theatre on Stadium Drive in the UA Theatre District. Shows are 7:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 2 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

“The Heiress” takes us into the tragically plain life of Catherine. After she falls head-over-heels in love with a young man, she must determine if he’s with her for love or the love of money. Family fortune always attracts a gold digger; could the love of Catherine’s life be one? Or, in the name of revenge, will heartbreak be the painful price the young man has to pay? “The Heiress” is suggested by the Henry James novel “Washington Square.” Directed by Seth Panitch, internationally known director, actor, playwright and screenwriter,” The Heiress” is a tale you don’t want to miss.

Tickets are $15 for adults ($13 + $2 service charge), $13 for UA faculty, staff, and senior citizens ($11 + $2), and $10 for students ($8 +$2). Tickets can be bought from noon to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the box office in Rowand-Johnson Hall; by visiting www.crimsonartstickets.com; or by calling 205/348-3400.

The department of theatre and dance is a part of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state. Students from the College have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the USA Today Academic All American Team.
