Crimson White Advertising Staff Wins Awards At Conference

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The advertising staff of The University of Alabama’s student-run newspaper, The Crimson White (CW), recently won awards at the Southern University Newspaper Conference, hosted by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

The CW earned one first-place and two third-place awards. Melinda Lintinger of Slidell, La., was the student retail sales manager who coordinated the campaigns for which the CW received awards. Students from universities from across the Southeast attended the Atlanta conference and participated in the competitions.

The CW received a first-place Best House Campaign award for the “Help Shaun Win the Heisman” promotion. The campaign consisted of several advertisements promoting a center spread in the game day edition on Friday, Oct. 22, 1999.

The CW was awarded a third-place prize for Best Use of Color for a Valentine’s Day advertisement for the University Supply Store. The CW won another third-place award for Best Special Interest Issue for Horizons 2000, a glossy freshman orientation guide for incoming students and parents.
