Students to Showcase Work at UA System Honors Research Day

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Some 50 students from The University of Alabama, University of Alabama at Birmingham and University of Alabama in Huntsville will participate in the fifth annual University of Alabama System Undergraduate Honors Research Day Friday, April 14.

The program will be held in the Alabama Institute for Manufacturing Excellence Building on the UA campus and begins at 9 a.m. and concludes with an awards ceremony at 3:15. Lunch and refreshments will be provided.

“We have a record number of undergraduate students from various honors programs at UA, UAB and UAH participating in Honors Research Day,” said Dr. Shane Sharpe, director of UA’s Computer-based Honors Program. “This event provides an opportunity for these distinguished students to showcase their talent and discuss their research through presentations and poster displays.”

Dr. Guy Caldwell, UA associate professor of biology and the Alabama Professor of the Year, will give the keynote address during the luncheon.
