TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – University of Alabama department of theatre and dance faculty choreographers created an eclectic program mixing a variety of dance and music styles in the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre Spring Concert 2007, Feb. 21-24 in the Morgan Auditorium in the UA Theatre District.
Shows are at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $12 for the general public, $10 for UA faculty and staff and senior citizens, and $8 for students. Tickets can be purchased at the box office in Rowand-Johnson Hall 1-5 p.m., or by calling 205/348-3400.
The Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre is the pre-professional company in residence founded by Cornelius Carter, professor of dance and artistic director of the Alabama Repertory Dance Theatre, to prepare and enrich dance students for the diverse demands of a professional career.
Compared to the more classical ARDT Fall Concert, the Spring Concert has a more contemporary feel.
Faculty choreographers include Carter, Sarah Barry, assistant professor, Rita Snyder, associate professor, Rhea Speights, adjunct instructor, and John Virciglio, adjunct instructor.
The department of theatre and dance is housed in the College of Arts and Sciences, the University’s largest division and the largest liberal arts college in the state. Students from the college have won numerous national awards including Rhodes Scholarships, Goldwater Scholarships and memberships on the “USA Today” Academic All American Team.
