ANNOUNCEMENTS

Due to construction, the Second Avenue entrance into the Coleman Coliseum parking lot will be closed through Nov. 9. Click here for a map of the affected area.

The UA Medical Amnesty Policy is designed to foster safety first.  It serves the educational function of the University by encouraging accountability and intervention among campus community members, with a goal of reducing risk and harm. Amnesty may be granted in three circumstances: individual students who need medical attention; individual students who call on behalf of those needing treatment; and organizations.  The purpose of the Medical Amnesty Policy is to increase the likelihood that community members will call for assistance when faced with an alcohol-related emergency. To read more about the policy, visit the Dean of Students website, and then click on the link on the left side of the page that says Medical Amnesty Policy.

By Oct. 15 of each year, each coeducational institution of higher education that participates in any federal student aid program and has an intercollegiate athletic program must prepare an Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act (EADA) report and make it available upon request to students, potential students and the public. The University of Alabama Department of Athletics’ report for the Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act is available upon request at the following locations: Office of Intercollegiate Athletics and Office of University Relations. The report can be accessed on the Internet at: https://eada.ia.ua.edu. A paper copy of the report will be provided upon request by contacting the Office of University Relations.

The Higher Education Act of 1965 requires institutions to make certain information available to the campus community and general public. The University has established a website, http://www.ua.edu/academic/hea, to compile and disclose in one location pertinent information related to the HEA’s requirements. Click here to read the Higher Education Act Compliance Memorandum from Dr. Joe Benson to UA employees and students.

Few traditions at the Capstone are as old or loved as the singing of the alma mater. In 2013 a new tradition for the song began at The University of Alabama: the playing of the alma mater on the Denny Chimes each day at noon. The lyrics and a recording of the song can be found at the Paul W. Bryant Museum’s website, http://bryantmuseum.com, under the Traditions tab.

As part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the Women’s Resource Center is collecting used cellphones — in working order or not. The UA community can drop off phones and accessories at the center or the Office of the Dean of Students. The phones will be recycled and used to help those affected by dating and domestic violence. Click here for more information on Domestic Violence Awareness Month, including a list of scheduled events.
