Alabama Quality Award Pre-Applications Due June 29 to UA Center

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Teams interested in applying for the 2007 Alabama Quality Award Team Showcase must submit a pre-application form to The University of Alabama’s Alabama Productivity Center by June 29.

The Alabama Quality Award Team Showcase honors individual team performances and educates other Alabama organizations on the benefits of empowered teams. Applicants’ efforts must be implemented within the state of Alabama, but the organizations may have affiliates, divisions, or headquarters in other states. This year the Alabama Quality Award Team Showcase will recognize teams that demonstrate excellence in employing lean concepts with a separate, distinct award.

All teams selected for the Team Showcase will participate in the 2007 Alabama Quality Award Ceremony and Conference Nov. 28-30 in Tuscaloosa by making a 10- to 15-minute presentation about their strategies and accomplishments and engaging in a question and answer session immediately following the presentation.

Submitting the pre-application form indicates a team’s intent to submit a full application by the Aug. 3 deadline. The Team Showcase pre-application and full application forms can be obtained on the Alabama Quality Award website at www.alabamaexcellence.com, or by contacting Linda Vincent, assistant director, Alabama Productivity Center, 205/348-8956 or Linda@proctr.cba.ua.edu.

The Alabama Quality Award is administered by the Alabama Productivity Center, an Alabama Technology Network center and a nonprofit outreach component of The University of Alabama. The Center’s mission is to find ways to use University research and educational resources to enhance the competitiveness of Alabama business and industry.
