Doraswamy, Guru of Yoga and the classical Indian dance Bharatanatya, will perform at the Ferguson Center Theater Sunday, Sept. 9 from 4-6 p.m. The performance is free of charge and open to the public.

She will give a Yoga, Mind and Body Workshop for UA and Stillman College students, faculty and staff on Sept. 10 at the UA Student Recreation Center from 9-11 a.m. and 2-4 p.m., and on Sept. 11 at Stillman College from 10 a.m.-noon and from 1-3 p.m. at the UA Recreation Center.

UA class participants can park in the North Lot adjacent to the outdoor pool and enter the Recreation Center from that entrance. The center has arranged for parking passes to be given to students of this workshop.

Doraswamy has been performing Bharatanatya for over three decades and she is also one of the pioneer students of influential yoga teacher Shri Pattabhi Jois. She received her doctorate degree for her research and thesis on the correlation between yoga and Bharatanatya, the two ancient arts of India.

The event is sponsored by the Tuscaloosa City Higher Education Grant in partnership with UA and Stillman College.
