TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s College of Human Environmental Sciences presents its 2014 Distinguished Lectures in Sport Management beginning Feb. 12.
The lecture series, presented in the fall and spring, offers an overview of the sport industry and the different opportunities available, said Dr. Ken Wright, a professor in sport management.
The lectures are free and open to the public. Each lecture will consist of about 45 minutes with a 15-minute question and answer session. All of them take place at 1 p.m. in 247 Bryant Hall.
The lecture schedule is as follows:
Feb. 12: “The Olympic Games,” presented by Dr. Andrew Billings, The University of Alabama
Feb. 19: “Marketing in Collegiate Athletics,” presented by Brad Ledford, UA Athletics Marketing
Feb. 26: “Career Opportunities in the Sporting Goods Industry,” presented by Cathy Pryor, National Sporting Goods Association
March 5: “The Business of Sports,” presented by Amy Woods, UA Athletics Business Office
March 12: “NASCAR & Talladega Superspeedway,” presented by Tommy Patterson, Consumer Marketing & Ticketing
March 19: “Entrepreneurship,” presented by Cathy B. Horton, Renegade Brands
