UA Honors College Launches Fall Town Hall Events

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama’s Honors College announces its Town Hall 2013 Fall Series, including its first entry, “Cronkite to Colbert — What is News to You.”

The series, held in the Ferguson Center Forum, is free and open to the public.

The panel for the “Cronkite to Colbert – What is News to You?” will be 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. Panelists are Dr. Jennifer Greer, interim dean of the College of Communication and Information Sciences, and Rick Bragg, Cason professor of writing, department of journalism.

The second, “Student Debt,” will be at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 4. Participants are Helen Allen, UA director of Student Financial Aid; Alabama Rep. Bill Poole, R-Tuscaloosa, chair of the House Education Budget Committee; and Dr. Stephen Katsinas, director of the Education Policy Center and UA professor of higher education administration.

The third is Where We Were and Where We Are: The University and Tuscaloosa, Always Moving Forward” at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 18. Participants are UA President Judy Bonner and Walt Maddox, mayor of Tuscaloosa.
