UA Community Service Center, SGA Host Gift Card Drive for Oklahoma Tornado Survivors

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Community Service Center and the UA Student Government Association are sponsoring a campuswide gift card drive to benefit survivors of the recent storms in Moore, Okla.

The drive is being executed in partnership with City Care, a nonprofit organization based in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Students, staff and faculty members are encouraged to purchase gift cards from retailers that have locations nationwide.  Cards should be turned in at the CSC, located at 346 Ferguson Center. City Care will then collect the cards and distribute them to storm survivors who have demonstrated unmet needs.

The CSC is only able to accept donations in the form of gift cards at this time.

For more information, contact the CSC at 205/348-5586 or volunteer@ua.edu.

The Community Service Center’s mission is to educate students for service advocacy and leadership, civic responsibility and lifelong volunteerism by increasing awareness of community needs, resources and opportunities for social problem solving. The CSC and UA students were responsible for more than 425,000 hours of service last year in local communities, the state, across the nation and abroad.
