UA Panhellenic Association Invites Prospective Students to Sorority Life Preview

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The Alabama Panhellenic Association invites prospective University of Alabama students to find out about sorority life during Panhellenic Preview Day.

High school seniors and college students interested in 2013 Recruitment in August have the opportunity to meet the recruitment team, active sorority women and other women participating in recruitment.

Panhellenic Preview Day will take place from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 23.

“Panhellenic is expecting record-breaking numbers for the weekend,” said Sarah Elizabeth Heggem, co-director of recruitment. “We are expecting 1,500 girls for the event and around 600 parents to attend Preview Day sessions and learn more about Greek life. This is only a glimpse of registration numbers for fall recruitment.”

While prospective members attend 12 minute parties in each of the 17 sorority houses, their parents or guardians will attend a separate program lead by the Panhellenic Executive Council on how to prepare for recruitment and membership expectations. To register, visit www.uapanhellenic.com or www.greekaffairs.ua.edu.

“Panhellenic Preview Day is such a great experience to get a feel of what August will be like,” said Katie Tuell, co-director of recruitment. “After my visit in Tuscaloosa as a high school senior, I left feeling like I knew my way around campus, felt comfortable with the recruitment process and knew I made the right choice coming to the University.”

Panhellenic Fall Recruitment is scheduled for Aug. 9-17. Registration for Fall Formal Recruitment will officially open May 1, 2013, and interested students will register via the UA Panhellenic or Greek Affairs website.

With more than 4,500 members, the Alabama Panhellenic Association is the largest women’s organization on campus. It is the governing body of the 17 National Panhellenic Conference sororities and one affiliate member sorority; Alpha Delta Chi. The Alabama Panhellenic Association promotes excellence in academics, community and campus involvement, and sisterhood and committed to the vision of creating young women of excellence.
