Ghanaian Saxophonist to Perform in UA’s Sonic Frontiers Series

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Ghanaian saxophonist and visual artist Nii Noi Nortey will perform using instruments of his own design in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, in The University of Alabama’s Ferguson Center Theater.

The Sonic Frontiers concert is free and open to the public.

Nortey’s concert will include solos, duos and trios with Dr. Andrew Raffo Dewar, assistant professor in New College and music, and renowned Japanese-American percussionist Tatsuya Nakatani. Nortey’s visit also includes class visits at UA on April 25 and 26 in the School of Music and New College.

The concerts is sponsored by UA’s New College, Capstone International, the College of Arts and Sciences, Honors College, the Blount Undergraduate Initiative, the UA School of Music, the Ferguson Center, the department of race & gender studies and Creative Campus.
