TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama student dancers will be “Dancing with the Bama Stars” Kellee Reinhart, Pat Whetstone, Dr. Bob Olin and a surprise Crimson Tide “star” as part of UA’s Arty Party fundraiser March 31 beginning at 6 p.m. in Woods Quad on the UA campus.

The event will also auction off a round of golf with pro golfer and UA alumnus Jerry Pate, a game day tailgating package for 15-20 people, a set of sterling silver elephant earrings for her and elephant cufflinks for him, tickets to a VIP box at Dallas Cowboys stadium for the Alabama vs. Michigan game, an elegant set of white and crimson freshwater pearls with matching earrings and many other items.

The Arty Party is sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences Leadership Board to showcase and raise funds for the fine and performing arts. “Dancing with the Bama Stars” is the eighth Arty Party fundraiser and will raise funds for dance student scholarships in the department of theatre and dance.

The event will begin at 6 p.m. with a silent auction in Woods Hall followed by epicurean fare in the dance studio in Clark Hall, “dancing with the stars” and a live auction. Each Bama star has trained diligently with Rita Snider, associate professor of dance, and will perform specially selected popular dances with a student dancer from UA’s dance program. Reinhart is vice chancellor for system relations for the UA system, Olin is dean of UA’s College of Arts and Sciences, and Whetstone is past director of the University of Alabama Alumni Association.

The dance program is known nationally for preparing young men and women for the highly competitive world of professional dance. It is the state’s only accredited dance program and has a dance education partnership with the American Ballet Theatre of New York.

The live auction will include a road trip with the Million Dollar Band, a private, behind-the-scenes tour of Bryant-Denny Stadium with UA Athletic Director Mal Moore, a hat and a football signed by UA Head Football Coach Nick Saban, a New York weekend stay including tickets to a Broadway show, among other items.
