TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The University of Alabama Honors College Assembly is partnering with the student organization Apwonjo to host the NPO Invisible Children 2011 “Tony” Tour on Monday, Sept. 19, at 7:30 p.m. in 127 Biology.
The Invisible Children organization works to stop the use of child soldiers in areas of conflict in Central Africa. Since the beginning of the war in Northern Uganda in 1986, it is reported that more than 30,000 children have been abducted to serve in the conflict.
At the event, there will be a screening of the Invisible Children organization’s most recent documentary “Tony” as well as a question and answer session with the audience. Representatives will discuss the work and goals of the organization. A member of the IC team will be a native Ugandan to tell her personal story on how the conflict has affected her community.
The event is open to the public.
