Alabama’s economy is well positioned to recover from the recession if the federal recovery bill works as intended, according to economists of Birmingham-based bank BBVA Compass. The state is in line to receive $2.8 billion for infrastructure and other spending, BBVA Compass economist Nathaniel Karp said during a conference Thursday at the University of Alabama’s Center for Business and Economic Research.
