Student Involvement Week Encourages UA Students to Join Campus Activities

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – From learning about paid jobs on campus to getting involved with student organizations at the Get Involved, Get On Board Day,  Student Involvement Week, Aug. 23-28, has something to offer every University of Alabama student.

The UA Office of Student Involvement & Leadership has events planned for students that include:

Monday, Aug. 23

Get Involved, Get Connected

11 a.m. – 1 p.m., Ferguson Center, 2nd floor

-Learn about campus policy and state laws from Judicial Affairs.

Get Involved, Meet Your SGA

4-5 p.m,  231 Ferguson Center

– Meet the SGA Executive Council and learn about the SGA.

Get Involved, Get Employed

9 a.m. – 5 p.m.,  Ferguson Center Ballroom

-Those who qualify for financial aid can learn about employment opportunities.

Tuesday, Aug. 24

Get Involved, Get Paid

11 a.m. – noon, 2 – 3 p.m., 312 Ferguson Center

-Students who qualify for Federal Work Study can discuss how to build a resume, where to find campus jobs, and what employers look for when hiring candidates.

Get Involved, Get Creative

6 p.m. – dark, Maxwell Hall

– Student art showcase

Get Involved, Get Spiritual

5 – 6:30 p.m., Ferguson Center Plaza

– Get a chance to meet representatives from various spiritual traditions and congregations.

Wednesday, Aug. 25

Get Involved, Get On Board

10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Ferguson Center Plaza

– Explore all types of student organizations.

Thursday, Aug. 26

Get Involved, Get Global

10 a.m. – 3 p.m., Ferguson Center, 2nd floor

-Join Capstone International and receive information about study abroad. All students are welcome to come out and get information for study in other countries.

Get Involved, Give Back

1–3 p.m., Ferguson Center, 3rd floor

-Join the Community Service Center to sample the Sweet Life of Service by engaging in hands on service projects.

Friday, Aug. 27

Get Involved, Get Active

7–10 p.m., Student Recreation Center

-University Recreation will host an evening of recreational activities for UA students.

Saturday, Aug. 28

Get Involved, Get Adventurous

– UA Outdoor Recreation will be running a whitewater rafting day trip to the Ocoee River in Tennessee.
