Jones Is New Student Recruiter For UA College Of Engineering

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – Wendy Jones recently joined The University of Alabama College of Engineering as coordinator of student recruitment. She was previously an admissions and scholarship counselor for the University.

Jones received her bachelor’s degree in consumer journalism from the University of Georgia and is now pursuing a master’s in higher education administration at UA.

Her activities in her new position will include contacting high school students to provide information about the College, identifying students possessing strong math and science backgrounds, and recruiting well-qualified students to the College. She will also work with junior college students to assist those interested in transferring into UA’s engineering program.

According to Jones, this position brings a new set of challenges that she looks forward to addressing. “I will enjoy the more in-depth contacts with students, making sure they recognize all the opportunities available,” she said.

Dr. Timothy J. Greene, dean of the College of Engineering, notes that Jones “brings tremendous expertise and enthusiasm for student recruiting.”

“The College is expanding its high school and community college recruiting efforts, and Wendy will do an excellent job in assisting with this project,” said Greene.

Jones, a native of Winterville, Ga., lives in Tuscaloosa with her husband, David.
