TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – A golf tournament fund-raiser to enable future Tallahassee, Fla., residents to attend The University of Alabama on a scholarship is set for Saturday, June 2, at the Capital City Club in Tallahassee, Fla.
Last year’s tourney, which is hosted annually by the Tallahassee alumni chapter of The University of Alabama National Alumni Association, raised $4,000 toward its $20,000 goal of endowing the scholarship.
For registration or other information on the golf tournament, the alumni chapter or its activities, contact Robert Portera at 850/656-4483. On June 2, registration begins at 12:30 p.m. with a tee off time of 2:30 p.m.
Chapter representatives expressed appreciation to the local businesses supporting the tournament with sponsorships and prizes. Anyone interested in The University of Alabama, including alumni, fans and friends, is invited to participate in the tournament and all chapter activities.
The University of Alabama National Alumni Association recently presented the Tallahassee, Fla., alumni chapter with its Chapter of the Year award. The chapter hosted many family oriented events during the past year, including its annual picnic at McClay Gardens.
On May 17, the chapter held its football update/spring banquet with Jim Bob Helduser, a new assistant football coach for the Crimson Tide, as a guest.
