UA College of Engineering to Host Mining Institute

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The civil and environmental engineering department in The University of Alabama College of Engineering will host the 2001 Alabama Mining Institute on June 7-8, in room 101 of the Tom Bevill Building on the UA campus.

Registration begins at 7:30 a.m. on Thursday, June 7, and sessions last until 4:30 p.m. both days. Registration cost is $40 for members of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration and $60 for non-members. Registered professional engineers can satisfy their annual professional development hours by attending the sessions.

Speakers will include representatives from Alabama’s mining companies as well as state and federal regulatory agencies that deal with mining concerns.
