Homecoming Court Announced at UA

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The 2002 University of Alabama homecoming court was selected Oct. 15-16 in a general student election using Internet voting for the second time at UA.

The homecoming queen will be announced Friday, Oct. 18, at the UA pep rally beginning at 7 p.m. on the UA Quad. The queen will be crowned during halftime of the homecoming football game between Alabama and Ole Miss on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

UA students voted on the queen and her court from a selection of 20 candidates. Some 4,464 students voted in the election, a slight increase over last year.

The following students were chosen to be members of the homecoming court:

  • Amber Bradford of Montgomery, a junior majoring in business management. Bradford is president of Delta Sigma Theta sorority, a member of the Capstone Men and Women, and in the University Honors Program.
  • Laura DiBlasi of Fayette, a senior majoring in journalism. DiBlasi is a member of CrimsonComedy.com, Phi Eta Sigma, the Alabama Crew Club, and president of Campus Girl Scouts.
  • Anna Firestone of Gadsden, a senior majoring in chemical engineering. Firestone is a member of Alpha Gamma Delta sorority, ODK, Order of Omega, Cardinal Key, and Campus Crusade for Christ.
  • Holly Michelle Morris of Grand Rapids, Mich., a senior majoring in political science. Morris is president of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority, a member of Anderson Society, XXXI women’s honorary, and Bama Belle captain.
  • Lauren Tagg of Memphis, Tenn., a senior majoring in public relations. Tagg is new member educator of Delta Delta Delta sorority, SGA senate publicity committee chair, and was a U.S. Senate intern.
