Campus Operations During Thanksgiving Week 2024

Classes are dismissed Nov. 25-29, but UA offices remain open Nov. 25-27. Various offices and services on campus will have adjusted hours and operations. Check individual websites for updated information.

What’s Open Regular Hours Nov. 25-27

The following will be open regular hours Nov. 25-27, and closed Nov. 28-29:

  • Campus Mail Service Center (Retail sales end at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27.)
  • Passport Acceptance Facility (Retail sales end at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 27.)
  • Counseling Center
  • Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services
  • IT Service Desk (Hotline will remain open 24/7 throughout the break.)
  • Student Health Center and Pharmacy
  • University Medical Center

Thanksgiving Meal on Campus

Lakeside Dining will serve a free, classic Thanksgiving meal from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 28 open to all students (no meal plan necessary).

Crimson Ride

  • No weekend shopping shuttles Nov. 23-24 or Nov. 30-Dec. 1.
  • Reduced service runs from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Nov. 25-27. Campus coverage will be three buses running the circulator route, two running the Circulator 2 route, and four on-call buses on the apartment routes. Buses will run the University Services Route and Student Center Route from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
  • No campus bus service Nov. 28-Dec. 1.
  • Gameday shuttles will operate for the Iron Bowl on Nov. 30.
  • Full campus service resumes 7 a.m., Dec. 2.

UA Libraries

University Libraries will have reduced hours starting Nov. 24.

The schedule is as follows:

  • Nov. 24, 11 a.m.-8 p.m.
  • Nov. 25-Nov. 27, 7:30 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Nov. 28-Nov. 30, Closed
  • Dec. 1, open at 11 a.m.

Gorgas and Rodgers libraries will be open 24/7 starting Dec. 1 and running through 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 13. UA Libraries hours can always be found on the website.

Supe Store

  • Nov. 25-27: Normal hours at all locations
  • All locations closed Thanksgiving Day.

Friday, Nov. 29:

  • Student Center: noon-5 p.m.
  • Corner Store: 11 a.m.-5 p.m.
  • Town Center: 11 a.m.-4 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 30:

Sunday, Dec. 1:

  • Student Center and Town Center closed. Corner Store open 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Art Galleries

All four UA galleries — Sella-Granata Art Gallery, Paul R. Jones Museum, Sarah Moody Art Gallery and the UA Gallery — will be closed all week.

Student Parking

Residential students wishing to leave their vehicles on campus may park in any parking deck corresponding to their parking zone with their permit.

Commuter students or students without a parking permit who wish to leave their vehicles on campus during Thanksgiving break can park their vehicles inside the Transportation Hub Deck. Email uapark@bama.ua.edu for additional information.
