Tre Turner was selected as the Student Employee of the Year by The University of Alabama’s Department of Human Resources, which has been honoring the efforts of outstanding student employees for more than 15 years.
Turner is a senior majoring in marketing and works for University Programs.
“This accomplishment in my journey is the culmination of every interaction and connection I’ve had with students, faculty, and staff members alike,” said Turner. “This award stands as a testament to our collective efforts to provide a platform where all students feel welcome, find support and build community.”
Paige Acker, Turner’s supervisor at UP, has known him since he was a freshman. His receiving this award came as no surprise to her.
“I met Tre in his first month of college. Right away he expressed an interest in getting involved to leave an impact on our campus community. Over the last four years he has served as a brand ambassador, social media manager and now executive team lead for Communications and Internal Affairs within University Programs,” Acker said.
“The real impact of Tre’s presence on our team is his character. He is someone who cares deeply about serving others. His place on our team will be impossible to fill, but he is leaving our team better than he found it.”
HR invites supervisors to nominate students in early spring each year to highlight students who perform invaluable services with enthusiasm and dedication while balancing their respective academic commitments.
This year eligible students were undergraduate student assistant employees and work-study student employees working in hourly, on-campus positions. Students must have worked a minimum of six months part-time or three months full-time.
The selection period was for work performed from June 1, 2023, through May 31, 2024 (anticipated).
