Keep reading to learn more about the Career Center so you can equip students with the proper resources to succeed in college and beyond.
1. One-stop Shop
Handshake is an online platform where students can search for jobs or internships, apply for on-campus interviews, build a portfolio and book appointments for Career Center programs. All students automatically have an account; they simply need to log in to access it.
2. Need a Headshot?
UA students can get free, professional headshots with the Iris Headshot Booth. After booking an appointment through Handshake, students arrive to the headshot booth to take three professional quality photos they can edit as they see fit. After the session, photos are sent directly to their Crimson email address, allowing them to save time and money.
3. Borrow Professional Clothes
The Denise and Chandler Root Crimson Career Closet offers professional clothing students can rent for free. Whether it’s for an interview, a career fair or a presentation, students can find any type of formal clothing for career-related occasions. Students with no overdue items can rent four items at a time for up to seven days. They make appointments in Handshake.
4. On-Campus Interview Rooms
The Career Center organizes on-campus interviews for employers and students in the spring and fall semesters. Students must first use Handshake to set up their profile and upload a copy of their résumé. If they are selected for an interview, they will be notified via their Crimson email address.
5. Résumé Reviewing
The Career Center reviews student résumés at no cost to the student. Students can go to the Career Center during walk-in hours or upload their résumé to VMock for a virtual consultation. VMock is available to students 24-7 and also helps students with feedback to prepare them for elevator pitches and interviews.
