Speakers at a University of Iowa LGBTQ micro-conference on March 30 addressed various issues affecting the education, health care, advocacy, and rights of the LGBTQ community. Leaders in their fields addressed the practices they are taking to construct a more supportive environment for LGBTQ individuals … Daniel Hoffman of OneIowa, James Knapp of TransOhio, Cindy Kilgo of the University of Alabama, and UI Clinical Professor of Law Leonard Sandler described their advocacy efforts for LGBTQ individuals.

Visiting Writers Series to host author Matt Bell

The author and teacher Matt Bell is set to be the next featured guest of the Visiting Writers Series. Bell will participate in an upcoming craft talk on Tuesday, April 3 at 12:30 p.m. in Morgan Hall 301, as well as a reading at 7 p.m. at the Dinah Washington Cultural Arts Center.

University of Alabama: Robert Nicholas Macon of Northport has become recognized as a member of Sigma Alpha Lambda, National Leadership and Honros Organization at the University of Alabama. He is the son of Robert and Angela Macon and a 2017 graduate of Tuscaloosa County High School. . . . The Randall Outstanding Undergraduate Research Award Program recognizes and celebrates the best research activity conducted by undergraduate students at The University of Alabama. Undergraduate students who have conducted significant scholarly research are nominated by faculty/staff research directors. The recipients and their nominators are recognized at a luncheon in their honor during UA’s Honors Week.
