Capitol Scholars applications open for Summer 2027

Students interested in careers in federal government, public policy and public service have an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in Washington, D.C., next summer through the Capitol Scholars program. Applications are now open for the program’s next class of scholars.

Organized by The University of Alabama System Office of External Affairs, the Capitol Scholars Program is an immersive summer internship program that provides life-changing, high-impact opportunities to exceptional UA System students who have earned at least 60 credit hours or are enrolled in a graduate or professional degree program.

“The opportunity to learn about Washington, D.C., grow as an individual and represent the UA System is one that I will value for the rest of my life,” said Marah Inman, an Honors English and business student. “If I had to pick one reason, I would say the people. The relationships that I developed in my time as a Capitol Scholar are what will stick with me the most moving forward.”
