A century after its original construction, McLure Library reopened over the summer after extensive renovations to provide additional space and modern updates to offer a new home for the School of Library and Information Studies and better serve the College of Education.
Why This Matters: McLure now houses the School of Library and Information Studies. Part of the College of Communications and Information Sciences, the relocation offers state-of-the-art learning labs, classrooms, office space and will enhance program visibility.

UA Discovery Opens Anti-inflammatory Potential of Citrus
Scientists at The University of Alabama have developed a bio-engineered molecule that uses a natural compound to both target and treat inflammation.
Why This Matters: Naringenin, a flavonoid found in citrus fruits, has long been recognized for its anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. The UA team has successfully unlocked naringenin’s inflammation-fighting properties.
