TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Registration is now open for free community learning sessions for youth, seniors and veterans. Culverhouse LIFT, a public service initiative through UA’s Culverhouse College of Business, provides free classes for low-income and disadvantaged individuals who would otherwise not have access to such courses and education. Additionally, LIFT supports the nonprofit and small business community through financial, organizational, administrative and general business coaching and assistance.
This spring, LIFT is offering these learning resources to the public:
- Youth tutoring at Northport Community Center (six classes)
- Classes at Holt, Northport and McAbee Senior Centers
- Veterans classes in Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, Hoover and Montgomery
In the LIFT sessions, UA students work one-on-one with community participants in areas like K-12 tutoring and computer skills such as Word, Excel and smartphone usage.
Classes start in February. Interested participants can learn more about available courses and register at the Culverhouse LIFT website.
