Jump Into July with These Events

July brings not only the heat but also many exciting events to UA and beyond. This month’s lineup includes music, food, fireworks and more that will surely sweeten your summer.

Check out this sampling of fun events full of celebration and education taking place this month on and off The University of Alabama’s campus.  

On Campus  

Outdoor Family Movie Night for Faculty and Staff
July 19, 7 p.m., The Quad

UA faculty, staff and their families are invited to enjoy the movie “Sing 2” under the stars on the Quad. Hot popcorn and beverages will be provided. Bring your own chairs and blankets. Blenz and Urban Cookhouse food trucks will be on-site with food for purchase.

EveryWoman Book Club 
July 25 noon-1 p.m., Legend’s Bistro 

EveryWoman Book Club is open to alumni, the general public, faculty, staff and students. This group meets monthly to discuss books written by women. EveryWoman will be discussing “When Women Were Dragons” by Kelly Barnhill this month. RSVP online.  

Sports Art Day 
July 27, 10 a.m.- 3 p.m., Paul W. Bryant Museum 

Join the Paul W. Bryant Museum for their Sports Art Day on Saturday, July 27. The museum will have sport-themed art activities for kids in kindergarten through fifth grade, including golf ball art, foam finger design, game day signs, pennant design and more. Admission is free for members, UA faculty, staff and students, and children under 5. Regular admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children over 5.

Bama Art House Film Series presents “Independence Day”  
July 2, 7 p.m., Bama Theatre 

Do not miss out on seeing the 1996 blockbuster “Independence Day” on the big screen July 2. Fourth of July Celebration on the River 
July 4, 6-9 p.m., Mercedes-Benz Amphitheater 

Celebrate Independence Day with the City of Tuscaloosa’s annual Celebration on the River! This free event features fireworks, kids’ activities, live music by the Tuscaloosa Symphony Orchestra and more. The fun will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 9 p.m. with a fireworks spectacular!  

Bama Art House Film Series presents “Who Framed Roger Rabbit” 
July 9, 7 p.m., Bama Theatre 

“Who Framed Roger Rabbit” is the perfect movie for the whole family that is sure to fill the entire theater with laughter. July 27, 7 a.m., Bryce Lawn  

Join Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance and the Druid City Bicycle Club for their 22nd annual bike ride to raise awareness and money for the nonprofit Tuscaloosa Mental Health Alliance.
