UA Earns Multiple Emmy Awards

The University of Alabama’s Center for Public Television and Radio and the Division of Strategic Communications were recently awarded multiple Southeast Emmy Awards.  

The Southeast Emmys is a regional chapter within the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences organization and includes entrants from Alabama, Georgia, Mississippi, South Carolina and Asheville, North Carolina. 

The University of Alabama earned 2023 Southeast Emmy Awards in the following categories:

Magazine Program – Series: Where Legends Are Made

Division of Strategic Communications
(John Lassiter, Chris Largin, Justin Beatty and Kaley Martin)

Additionally, Lassiter was also nominated in the category of Director – Short Form Content.

Arts/Entertainment – Short Form Content: Kathleen Kirk Stoves

Caro and Green created the Alabama Public Radio project “Kathleen Kirk Stoves,” showcasing a Mobile-based artist whose mission is to use her talent to generate awareness and help her community in need.

Historical/Cultural – Short Form Content: Linton Barbershop

Caro, Green and Williams collaborated on “Linton Barbershop,” a project highlighting the preservation of a historical Black-owned barbershop that resides on the Civil Rights Trail within Tuscaloosa.

The Center for Public Television and Radio had a total of six nominations in various categories, including sports, AI art and culinary topics.
