UA to Honor 8 Faculty for Research, Creativity

The annual Faculty Research Day on April 19 will honor members of The University of Alabama faculty for their research, scholarship and creative contributions.

As part of the celebration, faculty members recognized with the President’s Faculty Research Award will be honored during a ceremony at 4:45 p.m., Wednesday, April 19, in the Bryant Conference Center.

Sponsored by the offices of the President and Vice President for Research and Economic Development, the awards go to outstanding faculty researchers from across UA’s colleges and schools.

Faculty Research Day is an opportunity to showcase and celebrate excellence in research and creativity, and to generate enthusiasm for scholarship among faculty while increasing awareness of the University’s research enterprise and its impact.

“The faculty at UA do incredible things and make highly valuable contributions to better society and to advance the flagship. We are so grateful to them and the work they do,” said Dr. Russell J. Mumper, UA vice president for research & economic development. “This year’s recipients are extraordinary scholars recognized nationally and internationally for their contributions.”

Nominations for the President’s Faculty Research Award are solicited from faculty, departments and colleges for the Emerging, Mid-Career and Senior Scholar Awards. For each award category, one award is given to a faculty member from the area of physical and biological Sciences, mathematics and engineering; Social and behavioral Sciences; and arts and humanities.
