Go on a Trip with University Recreation

What better way to enjoy the week off than to go canoeing on the Buffalo River in Arkansas or swimming with manatees in Florida? Join University Recreation on one of these two unique trips:

Visit Moundville Archaeological Park

Visit one of the nation’s premier Native American heritage sites located just 13 miles outside Tuscaloosa on the Black Warrior River. Visit the park’s museum, climb up one of the historic mounds or take a walk on a nature trail and enjoy the beautiful outdoor scenery.

Explore Nature with a Walk or Hike

Tuscaloosa is home to several beautiful hiking trails and parks to enjoy as the weather starts to get warmer. Whether you want to take a casual stroll along the Riverwalk, or something more intermediate like a hike through Hurricane Creek Park, there is something for every skill level to try. UA’s Arboretum is also a great way to observe nature and walk some beautiful nature trails located just a few miles from campus.

Plan a Day Trip with Some Friends

Load up the car and head to a new city to do some exploring. Take a day to drive to Birmingham and do some shopping and grab something to eat. Or if you’re seeking thrills, visit Six Flags over Georgia in Atlanta.

Play Some Frisbee or Have a Picnic on the Quad

Stay in town and have a relaxing day at the Quad with some friends. Spend the day throwing a frisbee or playing kickball. Pick up one of your favorite Tuscaloosa meals or pack a picnic.
