Giving Back Through Hands on Tuscaloosa March 7, 2022 Written by Caroline Gazzara-McKenzie 1 min read TwitterFacebookLinkedInEmail 65 UA students volunteered at organizations cross West Alabama during the biannual Hands on Tuscaloosa day of service March 5. Students volunteered their time at seven community organizations, including the Tuscaloosa Metro Animal Shelter, where students cleaned fleet vehicles. At Westlawn Middle School students assisted with beautification efforts by painting sidewalks and more. The sidewalks leading to the school entrance were painted in Westlawn’s school colors. Students also worked inside the school building. Students painted “WMS” on an interior wall to boost school spirit and pride. The feeling you get from working alongside your peers to help the community is like no other. Contact Caroline Gazzara-McKenzie, Strategic Communications, caroline.mckenzie@ua.edu or 205-348-0825
