It’s Time for an Update

The next time you login to myBama, update your contact information.

There are certain things that need to be done on a regular basis like getting a good night’s sleep, drinking plenty of water and brushing your teeth. The list could go on.

But there’s one important thing that every University of Alabama student and employee should do at least every semester, and that’s updating your contact information in myBama.

As a member of the UA community, you are responsible for maintaining your emergency contact information. In order to receive text and voice messages from UA Alerts during emergencies on campus, your contact information must be up to date.

How do I update my information?

Instruction for employees

Your contact information will only be used by the University for emergency notifications and official business use. UA will not call, text or email students or employees asking for updated contact information.

You can also receive information about emergency situations on campus by downloading the UA Safety App for iOS and Android devices.

When is the next test of the UA Alert System?

Weather permitting, the University will test its emergency notification systems, including  UA Alerts, the public address system and digital signage Wednesday, Feb. 2, at 11:55 a.m.

The Tuscaloosa County Emergency Management Agency will conduct annual maintenance on their outdoor warning sirens, including the one on the roof of Gorgas Library, from Feb.1-12. The outdoor warning siren may be activated for a short time during this maintenance. Tuscaloosa County maintains 72 sirens throughout the county, which are primarily used for tornado warnings but may be used for any emergency where the public needs to seek shelter or evacuate. The sirens are normally tested on the first Wednesday of each month at noon, just after the UA Alerts test.
