Haunting at the Museum Returns with Expanded Schedule

Haunting at the Museum is a campus Halloween tradition. This year, it’s also a multi-day event, running Oct. 25-29.

Stories to Scare You

What: Take a walk-through tour of the Gorgas House Museum, lit up for the week by Lyndell McDonald, assistant professor and technical supervisor for the department of theatre and dance. As you move through the rooms, explore six panels that detail the spooky and even macabre stories associated with the house.

When: Visit Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and noon, or between 1 and 4:30 p.m. Walk-in visitors are welcome, but if you wish to make an appointment call 205-348-5906 or email gorgashouse@ua.edu.

Where: The Gorgas House Museum is located on campus at 810 Capstone Drive.

How much: No admission is charged for current University of Alabama faculty, staff, students or members of the University Alumni Association. General admission is $2, but if you show up in your Halloween costume, you’ll also get in for free!

A Different Kind of Graveyard

What: Visit the Alabama Museum of Natural History to see 25 gravestones indicating extinct mussels from Alabama, including their description and extinction dates. The museum will also provide take-home activities and free posters of extinct mussel species.

When: Visit Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Where: The Alabama Museum of Natural History is housed in Smith Hall, located on the UA campus at 427 Sixth Ave.

How much: No admission is charged for current University of Alabama faculty, staff, students or members of the University Alumni Association. General admission is $2, but if you show up in your Halloween costume, you’ll also get in for free!
