UA Suspends Normal Operations at 11 a.m. Due to Severe Weather Risk

With the impending threat of severe weather, including the high risk of tornadoes and dangerous weather in West and Central Alabama, normal University of Alabama operations will be suspended at 11 a.m. today through 5 a.m. Thursday.

All classes, including those conducted online or remotely are canceled as of 11 a.m. Libraries, recreation centers and other campus facilities will close. Check the Bama Dining website for operating hours and locations. Any COVID testing appointments will be rescheduled.

All campus storm shelters will open at 10 a.m. and are available to all students, faculty and staff, including those who live off campus.

When a tornado watch or warning is issued for the campus area, a UA Alert will be sent. Make sure your contact information is updated in myBama to receive all UA Alerts.

While our normal severe weather guidelines and processes automatically trigger protocols during bad weather events, the University is taking these actions early in anticipation of expected tornado watches and warnings today.

Please stay weather aware. Download the UA Safety app and follow @UA_Safety on Twitter for weather updates and other safety-related information. Information about severe weather affecting Tuscaloosa and UA is also available on 92.5 FM UA Info Radio.
