Starting this fall semester, The University of Alabama will be moving to digital mobile ACT Cards.

All roughly 8,000 incoming students, faculty and staff will be able to download a mobile ACT Card for iPhone or Android cellular device. Those with physical ACT Cards will still be able to use them, but if the card is lost it will be replaced only with a mobile card, unless the person does not have a qualifying mobile device. Then the person may contact the Action Card Office for an appointment.

“We introduced the mobile ACT Card for the iPhone and Apple Wallet on Oct. 2, 2018, and in the middle of May we released the Android version,” said Courtney Petrizzi, communications specialist for UA’s Action Card Office.

“Mobile ACT Cards are more secure through the use of DUO multifactor authentication. They’re faster, provide encrypted transactions and have a lot of health benefits being an online self-service option, such as being contactless.”

Petrizzi said every location and business on and off campus that accepted physical ACT Cards now accepts mobile cards as well. She said obtaining mobile ACT Cards also allows incoming students, faculty and staff to be credentialed on day one at UA, giving them door access, Dining Dollars and all other ACT Card services.

Step-by-step instructions on how to download a mobile ACT Card on an iPhone or Android are available.

As long as a submitted photo is approved as well as a valid driver’s license, government ID or passport, it should take about one business day to receive a card.
