Here are eight tips to get ready for these fairs:

1. Register: When you register for the Career Fairs in Handshake, you’ll receive important updates and reminders via email. You’ll also have first access to the Career Fair program so you can scope out the list of employers and the table maps before you arrive.

2. Download the Career Fair Plus App: You can access Career Fair info right from your phone using the Career Fair Plus app. Browse employers attending the fairs, add the fairs to your mobile calendar, make notes about employers, access table maps and more!

3. Résumé prep: Before you hand out copies of your résumé, make sure it’s in top shape! Schedule an appointment in Handshake or drop by for a walk-in. Check out the Career Center’s fall 2019 résumé walk-in hours.

4. Prepare your elevator pitch: You only have a few minutes with each recruiter to make a great impression. Perfect your elevator pitch at the Elevator Pitch Workshop with the Speaking Studio Thursday, Sept. 19, noon – 1 p.m.

5. Dress for success: Professional attire is a must for career fairs. If you’re not sure exactly what professional attire means, check the Center’s dress guidelines. Students may also access the Crimson Career Closet to borrow business attire for career fairs and other events.

6. Do your research: Check the list of participants and identify organizations of interest to you. Research the websites of these employers. Be open to talking with a variety of employers.

7. Plan your transportation: Normal parking regulations for Coleman Coliseum apply during career fairs. Don’t risk getting a ticket! Use Crimson Ride. Buses will be making stops directly in front of the Coliseum entrance during the fairs.

8. Learn what to expect: Check out the What to Expect During the Career Fairs guide and tips for how to follow up after the fairs are over.
