England Jr. Residence Hall June 6. England was admitted in 1969 to the UA School of Law as a member of its first class to include African Americans. Honoring England are, from left, Stuart R. Bell, UA president; Ronald Gray, president pro tempore of the UA Board of Trustees; and Finis E. St. John IV, UA System chancellor. England was elected as a trustee at The University of Alabama on March 23, 1998. England, shown with his children, was appointed to the Alabama Supreme Court in 1999. The honor recognized England’s civic leadership, strength of character and impact on the University, the Tuscaloosa community and the state of Alabama.
