Final Four Dean Candidates to Make Public Presentations

Clark Hall, home of the College of Arts and Sciences

The final four candidates in The University of Alabama’s search for a new dean of its largest division, The College of Arts and Sciences, will make presentations to the campus community the week of April 22.

Presentation times and locations:

  • April 22, 127 Biology Building, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • April 23, 120 Farrah Hall, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
  • April 24, 38 Lloyd Hall, 2-3 p.m.
  • April 25, 125 ten Hoor Hall, 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Each candidate’s presentation will be about 30 minutes, followed by a 30-minute question-and-answer session.

Dr. Robert Olin, who has served as the division’s dean for nearly 20 years, will retire Sept. 1.

The ideal candidate for the job is a person who is strategic, collaborative, possesses a significant progressive record of higher education leadership and has a high scholarly profile or artistic record.

The next dean will develop a future-oriented vision for the College of Arts and Sciences, and provide leadership in planning, curriculum, research and budgets.

Information about each candidate is posted at https://ua.edu/asdeansearch and requires myBama authentication to review.

Recordings will be available for those who could not attend the presentations. Feedback forms for each candidate will also be posted on the same webpage, with input being accepted through midnight on Saturday, April 27.

Feedback on the candidates is very important to the search process and is requested by the search committee.
