Holi Festival Mixes Colors With Excitement April 20, 2018 Written by Richard LeComte 1 min read XFacebookLinkedInEmail The International Students Association, Honors College Assembly and UA South Asian Society came together to bring Holi to Tuscaloosa. Holi is the Indian Festival of Color. UA international student Sakina Dhondia helped organize this elaborate event. The festival originated in the fourth century. It is celebrated by throwing colored powder. The powder signifies the coming of spring and all the new colors it brings to nature. Organizers ordered 800 pounds of color for this event. Holi is one of the most elaborate events these student organizations put together this year. People of all ages get involved in Holi. The more colorful, the better. The cold weather on April 15 did not deter students from welcoming in the new season. As the common saying goes, a picture speaks a thousand words.
