Science Sunday Focuses on Recycling

The Alabama Museum of Natural History is located in Smith Hall.

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The West Alabama community is invited to learn how they can reduce, reuse and recycle during “Science Sunday: Recycle Alabama” at the Alabama Museum of Natural History on The University of Alabama campus this weekend.

The free event, which is slated for 1 to 4:30 p.m. Sunday, May 7, will feature exhibitors from UA and the community who are involved in sustainability and environmental awareness.

There will also be crafts and activities for younger visitors and interactive exhibits and games for older visitors. Students will get to see how a rain barrel works, as well as learn how to up-cycle various items.

“This Science Sunday is a great way for people to see what kind of sustainability activities and efforts are happening in their communities and learn about ways they can increase their own environmental awareness at home,” said Allie Sorlie, the museum’s education outreach coordinator.

The event is free to the public.

UA’s Alabama Museum of Natural History is in Smith Hall near the Quad at the corner of Sixth Avenue and Capstone Drive on The University of Alabama campus.
