Art Auction at UA to Benefit Children’s of Alabama

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Dance Marathon will host a silent auction art exhibit today through Friday at the Ferguson Center Art Gallery.

The exhibit will feature art produced by children treated at Children’s of Alabama as well as art donated by UA student artists.

All proceeds raised from the silent auction will go toward UADM’s goal of raising $300,000 for Children’s of Alabama, the local Children’s Miracle Network Hospital, by Feb. 11. On that date,  the organization celebrates its year-long fundraising efforts with a 12-hour dance marathon.

“This exhibit is a different way for us to showcase our Miracle Kids to the community,” said Katie Hollingsworth, UADM director of special events. “We love any opportunity to expose how creative and amazing these kids are. We are providing people a way to interact with our Miracle Kids even if it isn’t face-to-face. People can support them by investing in their work.”

The University of Alabama Miracle Network Dance Marathon, or UADM, is the largest student-run fundraising organization at the Capstone, exclusively raising funds for Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals and Children’s of Alabama. The student organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and depends on the financial support of donors.

UADM is part of Miracle Network Dance Marathon, a national movement involving over 450 colleges and high schools. Since the organization’s inception in 2011, UADM has raised over $495,000 for Children’s of Alabama.
