FOUNDATION PROVIDES $1 MILLION FOR ADULT LEARNING – UA has received a $1 million grant from The Bernard Osher Foundation to support and endow continuing education opportunities for mature students. The gift recognizes the growth and quality of the University’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. The program has more than 1,400 adult members who are engaged in courses, seminars, community events and field trips designed to expand their knowledge and enrich their lives. The program, facilitated through UA’s College of Continuing Studies, offers more than 250 courses throughout 10 communities in Alabama. UA STUDY: HOLIDAYS DANGEROUS TIME FOR YOUNG DRIVERS – The 12 days leading to Christmas are some of the worst days for crashes involving young drivers, according to a recent study of traffic data by UA’s Center for Advanced Public Safety. UA MATTERS: HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR SLEEP QUALITY — Before giving up on getting a good night’s sleep, consider your “sleep hygiene” before you throw in the towel. You spend one-third of your life sleeping. It is worth the investment to make sure that one-third of your life is the best it can be. UA’s Dr. Norma G.
