UA Exceeds its United Way Campaign Goal

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama has again exceeded its United Way campaign goal, pledging nearly $398,000 for the 2015 campaign.

This year’s goal was $345,000, a $20,000 increase from the 2014 campaign goal. The total raised — $397,803.04 — was announced at a recent celebration.

UA’s School of Social Work hosted this year’s campaign with faculty members Dr. Javonda Williams, Dr. Gordon MacNeil and Angela Lockhart serving as campaign chairs, with Liz Dykes, the school’s Loaned Executive, heavily involved from start to finish.

The campus coordinating committee supporting the trio included representatives from Student Affairs, Community Affairs, The University of Alabama Retirees Association and the Office of Research and Economic Development, as well as other areas of campus.

United Way of West Alabama has 26 partner service agencies and covers Bibb, Fayette, Greene, Hale, Lamar, Marengo, Pickens, Sumter and Tuscaloosa counties.

These agencies provide a variety of education, income-related, health and emergency response programs to citizens throughout West Alabama. For more information on the United Way of West Alabama, visit uwwa.org.
