UA Offers Sorority Row Trick-or-Treat

The University of Alabama’s Panhellenic Association will host its annual Sorority Row Trick-or-Treat from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 26. Children from the Tuscaloosa area ages 12 and younger are invited to dress up in Halloween costumes without masks and visit the lawns of the campus sorority houses on Magnolia and Colonial drives for candy and activities. Tutwiler and Harris residence halls will also host trick-or-treaters.

UA’s Creative Campus Holds ‘Art in the Park’

The University of Alabama’s Creative Campus presents Art in the Park, a day of free, hands on arts workshops designed for children of all ages, taught by University of Alabama students on Sunday, October 11 from 2:00-5:00 p.m. at the Magnolia shelter in Snow Hinton Park, located on McFarland Blvd. across from McFarland Mall.

The University of Alabama College of Human Environmental Sciences will present the Jack Davis Professional Achievement Awards during upcoming homecoming activities on campus.

UA to Dedicate Cuba Center; Analyst to Discuss U.S.-Cuba Relations

A dedication ceremony for The University of Alabama’s new Center for Cuba Collaboration and Scholarship will be held Thursday, Oct. 15 at Capital Hall on UA’s Bryce campus. In conjunction with the dedication, special guest Dr. Peter Kornbluh, a senior analyst for the National Security Archive, will present a lecture on “The Secret Story of How Washington and Havana Normalized Diplomatic Relations.”

UA Researchers Design Material that More Effectively Slows Light

Researchers at The University of Alabama designed and made a material that manipulates the speed of light in a new, more effective way than previous methods, according to findings recently published in Scientific Reports by the Nature Publishing Group.

Nursing Leaders to be Inducted into UA-Sponsored Hall of Fame

Five nursing professionals will be inducted into the eighth annual Alabama Nursing Hall of Fame on Oct. 8. Established by The University of Alabama’s Capstone College of Nursing’s Board of Visitors in March 2001, the Hall of Fame was created to honor nurses and others who, through their work and accomplishments, have brought honor and fame to the profession of nursing and the state of Alabama.
