DEADLINES
You must pay and confirm your enrollment by Aug. 7 or your Fall Semester 2015 schedule will be canceled. After that date, you will have to re-enroll in available classes.
The Student Government Association is accepting applications for this football season’s student-organization seating. Individual students may apply for membership on the board of governors, a group of students who will work to assign seating in the organization section. The deadline to apply for the board of governors is Aug. 21.

Open enrollment in UA’s voluntary Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan will end Aug. 26. Eligible Students may select coverage for Fall Semester 2015 (Aug. 1-Dec. 31) or for the annual coverage period (Aug. 1, 2015-July 31, 2016). United Healthcare Student Resources administers the plan.
Domestic undergraduates and graduate students should go to https://www.uhcsr.com/ua for enrollment information.
UA graduate assistants, fellowships, internationals and English Language Institute students should not enroll at UHCSR’s Web page. Instead, they should watch for a special letter or a special e-mail to their Crimson e-mail accounts from their supervising UA departments with instructions on how to enroll in the Student Injury and Sickness Insurance Plan for coverage this fall through The University of Alabama.

Weather permitting, the University will test UA Alerts, the emergency public address system and digital signage at 11:55 a.m. the first Wednesday of each month. The test will last approximately 30 seconds and should not be disruptive. Immediately following at noon, the Tuscaloosa Emergency Management Agency will test the outdoor tornado sirens, weather permitting.
Students should update their contact information on myBama to ensure they receive the UA Alerts messages. Students who currently receive the alerts but would prefer to be contacted differently will need to revise their contact information. The city of Tuscaloosa Water Department has temporarily extended its service hours as college students return for the fall semester. Monday-Friday phone lines will remain open until 6 p.m. through Aug. 17 or until demand subsides. Customers can reach the water department at 205-248-5500 or ubcontact@tuscaloosa.com. University Programs hosts many events during Tied with the Tide week, Aug. 8-15. Tied with the Tide is a week of activities for UA students who have arrived early on campus. On Aug. 15 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., First Year Experience and Parent Programs will host an information and welcome table on the Ferguson Center Plaza for first-year students and their families. Students and their families will learn how to get involved with UA and the FYE office.

The Center for Service and Leadership is accepting pre-registration for Ripple Effect, which will be held Aug. 18 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Ripple Effect is the annual day of service during Week of Welcome that allows new and returning students to get connected and reconnected to the Tuscaloosa community.
