Successful UA Fall Sorority Recruitment Concludes

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — Of the 2,442 young women who registered for Fall 2015 formal recruitment at The University of Alabama, 93 percent (2,261 women) received bids from the 16 Panhellenic sororities on the UA campus. The number of women who initially registered increased by more than 7 percent, and the total who received bids increased by 10 percent over last year.

“We are very proud of our sororities and their commitment to providing a positive and enthusiastic welcome to our newest students,” said Dr. David Grady, vice president of Student Affairs. “The week of Recruitment is a good time to meet new friends and get involved on campus. The fraternity and sorority community at UA provides multiple opportunities for students to become leaders and engaged members of their communities, now and for a lifetime.”

Of the total number of women who accepted bids, 214 were minorities, a number that increased by nearly 13 percent. And, the number of African American students who received bids increased by 19 percent, to 25.
