TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — University of Alabama student Tori Vines has been selected to participate in an American Advertising Federation internship program.
Vines, a sophomore from Jasper double majoring in advertising and marketing, will complete an internship with national organic grocery chain Whole Foods this summer as part of The Vance and Betty Lee Stickell Student Internship Program, a nationally competitive internship program through AAF.
The 10-week program places 16-20 students annually in internships at media organizations, advertising agencies and client and supplier companies across the United States.
Through the scholarship, Vines hopes to broaden her knowledge of the advertising industry and make new professional connections.
“I’m very interested in becoming an account planner in an ad agency or a market researcher on the corporate side,” Vines said. “I enjoy the business side of communications, so I hope to be exposed to that this summer and gain experience. Also, I think having this opportunity will help me learn more about what I like and where I want to go in the future.”
Susan Daria, an instructor of advertising in the College of Communication and Information Sciences at UA, is the faculty adviser to the Capstone Student Advertising Federation, of which Vines is a member. She nominated Vines for the program.
“Tori is a high-octane student,” Daria said. “She is involved in everything, incredibly organized and passionate about her work and the industry.”
