UA Online Business Degree Ranks 3rd Out of 500

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — The University of Alabama Culverhouse College of Commerce’s online Bachelor of Business program has been recognized by BestColleges.com as one of the top not-for-profit online programs in the country.

The website places Culverhouse at number three in its 2015 Top 25 Best Online Bachelor of Business Programs after reviewing more than 500 nonprofit online degree programs. The rankings are based upon acceptance, retention, graduation and enrollment rates.

“To be ranked number 3 out of 500 is quite an achievement and speaks to the quality of our online program and the tremendous effort our faculty and staff put into ensuring a successful program,” said Dr. J. Michael Hardin, dean of the Culverhouse College of Commerce.

Culverhouse’s online general business degree is a part of the Bama By Distance program and allows students, who would not normally be able to get a degree, a flexible way to further their education.

“I am proud of how our faculty and staff have created such a successful program with a global reputation,” said Jennifer Humber, director of Culverhouse Online Services. “Even though our students are not physically located on campus, we strive to maintain a personal connection with them while they pursue their academic and professional goals. This recognition is an encouragement to our team as we continue to serve our students.”

The online program is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. This accreditation is an indication of quality recognized throughout the world and is held by less than 5 percent of institutions globally.

Culverhouse’s online program began in 2006 with only 35 students and has grown to more than 1,000 currently enrolled. Half of these students are located in Alabama, while the other half are out-of-state and out-of-country.
