ANNOUNCEMENTS

On March 1, the Office of Information Technology will begin prohibiting the use of external Domain Name System services, such as Google Public DNS and OpenDNS, from computers on the UA campus network. The move will affect users on who have manually overridden the default settings to make use of DNS services provided by external organizations. The move will most likely have no effect on users who are not familiar with DNS services, which perform a translation from domain names — for example, abc.com — into Internet Protocol addresses. People using an external DNS service should remove that DNS address from their network connection settings. Doing so will allow their computers to automatically find the UA-provided DNS services.
WVUA-TV will broadcast the “Three Minute Thesis Competition: University of Alabama 2015” documentary on Feb. 22 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. and again on March 1 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. The competition was held in November.
